For many years, Winter Haven has honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through community events rooted in education, reflection, and togetherness. Rather than focusing on a single ceremony, the city has gradually expanded its observances to include activities held across libraries, parks, and downtown spaces.

Together, these events reflect how Winter Haven chooses to remember Dr. King’s legacy at a local level, not just through words or monuments, but through shared experiences that bring the community together.

Big news for dessert lovers: Crispý Cones is officially opening its doors in Haines City this week.

The new spot will celebrate its Grand Opening on Friday, January 16th, giving locals a first taste of their signature pastry cones filled with soft serve.

To mark the occasion, anyone who follows them on Instagram can grab a free pastry cone during the grand opening.

Fun fact: Crispý Cones gained national attention after appearing on Shark Tank. 🦈

🐕️ Gohan is a black and white adult male Cur mix with an alert, curious spirit and a heart full of potential. Neutered and eager to learn, he’s the kind of dog who’s always paying attention, ready for walks, playtime, or just being near his people.

He’s been at the shelter since December 29th and is waiting for the right family to give him the structure, love, and adventure he deserves.

🐈️ Piccolo is a black and white adult male Domestic Shorthair with a calm, observant presence and striking markings. Neutered and gentle, he’s the kind of cat who enjoys cozy spots, quiet companionship, and keeping a watchful eye on his surroundings.

He’s been at the shelter since December 30th and is ready to settle into a loving home where he can finally relax and feel safe.
